A needs analysis is where Brittany will get a better understanding of your English level. She uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) to guide her analysis. The format is an informal interview.

Since Unhinged English Education is a completely bespoke language program where no two students will receive the same lesson. Brittany creates every lesson based on student needs and interests, but you can expect each lesson to be packed with conversational content, vocabulary, listening, reading, and grammar practice. When appropriate, lessons will also come with corpus-informed language tips to support the functional language approach.

There are many approaches to language learning. There is definitely no one-size-fits-all approach, but in today’s globalized society many people do not learn a language to be “perfect” or “language robots”. Functional language focuses more on how language is used in real life contexts, rather than prescriptive grammatical accuracy. The goal is to ensure you are communicating clearly and effectively in an appropriate way. However, there are exceptions for when strict grammatical accuracy is essential.
